Guide to Instax Photo Printing

Instax photos are photos captured and printed on instant still cameras by a brand Instax that is marketed by Japanese company Fujifilm. The first camera and film, the Instax Mini 10 were released on November 10, 1998 and the second model of camera and film “Wide” was released only year after. The Instax photos have an iconic frame similar to the polaroid photo prints.

Instax makes cameras and film for three different photo formats. The most popular one is Instax Mini photos where the size of the photo is 54 mm × 86 mm (2.1 in × 3.4 in). In Japan they are referred to as cheki (チェキ), derived from the English "check it". Instax Square is the most similar to the Polaroids in shape, however it's a bit smaller. The Instax photo size is 62 mm × 62 mm (2.4 in × 2.4 in). Last camera and film format that Instax offers is Instax Wide. The negative on this Instax photo format was increased to create an image size based on the golden ratio. The photo size is 99 mm × 62 mm (3.9 in × 2.4 in).
